Perfect for:

  • Creative meetings
  • Strategy sessions
  • Sales presentations
  • Brainstorming
  • One-on-one conversations or group meetings
  • Workshops and seminars

How does it work?

  1. Import the files you want to use in the presentation
  2. Rearrange slides in a matrix
  3. Present on an external monitor using your iPad for navigation

What can I do with nonlinear?

  • Import PDFs created from PowerPoint, Keynote, OpenOffice, or other applications
  • Import movies and JPEG images
  • Add blank slides for writing audience notes
  • Pre-load webpages and use them as slides
  • Navigate to any adjacent slide during a presentation by swiping
  • View and navigate to any slide in your presentation while the audience sees only one slide
  • Write on any slide during a presentation (and save these notes!)

How do I load files into the nonlinear?
The nonlinear app includes a loader to pull PDF, JPEG, and MOV files off the web or transfer them into the app from a computer connected to the iPad.

What happens when I import files into the nonlinear?
When you import a file into nonlinear through, it saves the file in a special folder just for the app and turns it into a slide.  Each MOV and JPEG file becomes its own slide, as does each page in a PDF file. The files are automatically scaled so that they fit the screen without stretching.

How do I navigate through presentations with nonlinear?
In presentation mode, you can navigate to any of the slides adjacent to it in a matrix. You can navigate up to eight different ways from a given slide. When showing one slide to the audience, you can see the titles of all of the adjacent slides.  Or if you'd like to jump ahead or to any slide in your presentation, you can view the entire matrix of slides and select one.  The whole time, the audience will only see your current slide. Magic!

How do I edit presentations?
You can save and load presentations you've worked on. In edit mode, you can re-arrange the slides in a matrix,  choose the dimensions of the matrix, change the names of slide titles, delete slides, or add blank slides.  You write on existing slides in different colors / pen thickness or pre-load web pages into the blank slides.

Do I need an Internet connection?
Sometimes.  You'll need an Internet connection (wifi or 3G) to import files from the web through nonlinear's file loader.  You'll also need an Internet connection to pre-load or view web pages in edit or presentation mode.

What do I need to connect to a monitor?
Apple sells a special dongle for connecting the iPad to an external monitor. This dongle is available through the Apple Store or many retailers where the iPad is sold.

On February 6, 2010, Seth Godin posted on his blog an entry titled "iPad app of my dreams: the digital talking pad". The world was a-buzz. Could this app be created? Who would actually build this app? Was it as amazing as he promised it could be?

As a follow up to the post, Seth started a wiki so that people who might want to make this idea a reality could share ideas on putting it together. Many people joined up and contributed ideas.

There was a whirl of activity, of postings, of diagrams, of mock ups - a storm of creativity. And then, within months, the conversation had died down to a faint drip and distant echo.

On June 14, 2010, Seth let out a sigh. No one had built his first dream app. That's when Keetsy had enough - it was decided to make this app a reality.
